Hello everybody and welcome! My name is Mitchell and I am a 2019 DRAFT Best Ball Championship Semifinalist (Top-48/8,628) as well as an active DFS player. You’re probably done reading here and just want to look at the rankings so here they are.
Tier 1 has the obvious choices of Mahomes and Jackson, the leagues last 2 MVPs. It’ll be nearly impossible for Jackson to put up repeat numbers but that doesn’t mean he won’t be elite.
Tier 2 has plenty of guys we usually think of as elite fantasy football QB’s. I believe the addition of DeAndre Hopkins pushes Kyler Murray up to the 3 spot while Prescott and Wilson stay relevant with their rushing. Allen slots in next because of his rushing ability and the Stefon Diggs/John Brown duo on the outside. Lastly, Rodgers and Brees round off tier 2 because of their reliability and weapons available.
Tier 3 is full of QB’s that have up-and-down games, as well as Deshaun Watson. The loss of Hopkins pushes Watson down into tier 3 because the rest of his weapons are so inconsistent. I’m banking on Mayfield having a bouceback campaign with the plethora of weapons at his disposal. Matt Ryan is a steady fantasy QB that won’t let you down, but he may not win you a week either. I think Wentz has a good chance to put up big numbers with his receiving corps returning to full health and not having to throw to Nelson Agholar/Greg Ward. Lastly, Stafford is similar to Ryan but with less talent surrounding him (Golladay and Hockenson withstanding).
Tier 4 has some old faces in new places. At time of writing, we don’t know where Cam is going. What we do know, is that when Cam is healthy, Cam is a top-10 level fantasy QB. Tannehill is an uninspiring fantasy QB that won’t win you any matchups, but he won’t lose you any either. Brady is the wildcard in this tier as his playing ability has dropped considerably, but he arguably has the best receiving corps in the NFL. The final 4 QB’s here have the ability to score 30+ FPTS on any given week… but also the ability to score in the single digits on any given week.
None of these tier 5 QB’s should be a priority for fantasy owners at the time of writing.
Tier 6 is for guys that are not guaranteed playing time as of time of writing and therefore should be left on waivers.
