Monday Night Football is upon us for Week 7 and I have your preview ready here on! We’ll dive into the betting implications, injuries, offenses vs. defenses, and lastly some predictions.

New England Patriots at New York Jets

MetLife Stadium

East Rutherford, NJ

A -9.5 (-120) favorite, the Patriots should be able to handle the Jets quite easily in this game. The Patriots have the #1 defense in the NFL and the Jets are not the strongest offense, despite what last weeks fluke win will tell you. The Patriots will win this game outright and I like their chances of covering the spread. As for the total, I like the chances that this game stays under the 43.0 point total (-110). The Patriots will take the lead early and simply chew the clock and win this one without much trouble. Some prop bets that I like in this one include Tom Brady interceptions OVER 0.5 at EVEN money and James White OVER 10.5 yards on his longest reception (-120). Brady has thrown an INT in each of his last 3 games so sign me up at EVEN money for him to throw another one tonight (EVEN money means a $100 bet wins $100). As for the James White prop, White is averaging over 7 yards per catch and already has 3 receptions for over 20 yards.

Nearly the entire Jets squad is out, doubtful to play, or questionable tonight. That includes ⅘ of the starting O-lineman and 5/11 O-lineman overall. Also, starting TE Chris Herndon is doubtful to make his season debut with a leg injury and starting receiver Demaryius Thomas is questionable to play against the team that traded him away earlier this season. On the defensive side of the ball, the Jets have 6 cornerbacks on their roster, 2 are out and 2 more are questionable to play tonight. Of their 10 linebackers, 3 are out, 1 is doubtful, and 1 more is questionable. Lastly, the defensive line will likely be without Henry Anderson and possibly Steve McLendon. The Jets mind as well sit everyone else of any significance just to avoid further damage.

For the Patriots, they have already ruled out Josh Gordon, Rex Burkhead, Matt LaCosse and Ryan Izzo. With 3 other receivers questionable (Julian Edelman, Phillip Dorsett, and Gunner Olszewski), the Patriots could be left with Jakobi Meyers and Ben Watson as the primary targets for Brady. On defense, Pat Chung is the only injury being reported and he is questionable to play. No need to panic though, as it’s being reported that the questionable players should suit up.

Jets Offense vs. Patriots Defense

With Sam Darnold back from his stint with mono, this Jets offense gets a much-needed upgrade. But, they’re still the Jets. With their entire offensive line seemingly on the mend, Darnold will have almost zero time to pass which means Le’Veon Bell and Jamison Crowder will be busy tonight. This Jets offense is one of the worst in the league and they face the #1 defense. There is a strong chance the Jets get shutout tonight but I’m banking on them scoring after a TB12 turnover. Pretty much all there is to say here is that the Patriots allow 8 points a game and the Jets only score 12 points a game. Bad offense versus good defense usually doesn’t bode well for the offense.

Patriots Offense vs. Jets Defense

The Patriots are scoring 31 points per game and the Jets are allowing 24. I don’t expect the Pats to reach their season average because this game will be over so quickly that Sony Michele should just be able to run the ball and chew the clock. This Jets defense allows 369 yards a game and they’re riddled with injuries tonight, so a poor defense gets poorer. Brady has tossed an interception in 3 straight games so keep an eye out Jamal Adams who already has a pick-6 this season. Even if the Patriots sit their starting and more well-known receivers tonight, they should be able to move the ball down the field against this Jets defense that allows 273 passing yards a game.

Patriots: 24

Jets: 7

Guaranteed Touchdown Scorer: Sony Michele

Dart Throw Touchdown Scorer: Jamison Crowder
