Countdown to NBA 2019: Most Valuable Player Candidates, #1

The NBA regular season begins tomorrow which means we have reached the end of our countdown. Coming in at #1 on our countdown is the reigning MVP and the man more commonly known as… The Greek Freak.

#1 Giannis Antetokounmpo

Forward, Milwaukee Bucks

Giannis Antetokounmpo is the reigning MVP and for good reason. Last season, we witnessed Giannis obtain new career-highs in nearly all categories. Giannis even scored a career-high in points as he reached 52(!) points in a game last year. The most surprising thing about Giannis’ ability to score at such a high rate is that he has essentially zero outside shot. Giannis shoots at an incredible .641 clip from inside the arch but only .256 from beyond the arch. If Giannis can develop his outside shot, he very well could be labeled as the greatest basketball player in the entire world. So far in his young NBA career, Giannis is a 3x All-NBA player, 3x All-Star, 2x All-Defensive player, Most Improved Player in 2016-2017, and an MVP. At just 24 years old, the sky is the limit for Giannis. As the most efficient player in the NBA last season with a PER of 30.95 (league average is 15.00), Giannis looks to continue his impressive start to an unbelievable career.

Giannis is currently at +300 (Bovada) to win the NBA MVP award. Do you think Giannis will repeat as the NBA MVP? Let me know in the comments below!
