Countdown to NBA 2019: Most Valuable Player Candidates, #16

Another day has passed which means the NBA season is that closer! The potential MVP candidate under the microscope today is the Rookie of the Year from this past season.

#16 Luka Doncic

Shooting Guard, Dallas Mavericks

Luka Doncic was hands down the best teenager in the NBA this past season. Yes, Doncic did not turn 20 years old until this past February! In his lone NBA season, Doncic would hold off a late surge by Trae Young to win the NBA Rookie of the Year and obviously make the All-Rookie team. Doncic would go on to tie Lebron James for the 4th most triple-doubles in the NBA last season, with a tally of 8 triple-doubles. Doncic has already established himself as one of the league’s top talents and shows no signs of slowing down. With a PER of 19.61 (league average is 15.00), Doncic was rated as the 51st most efficient player this past season. With a healthy Kristaps Porzingis joining him this year, Doncic should be able to excel in his offensive role for the Mavericks once again.

Doncic is currently at +5000 (Bovada) to win the NBA MVP award. Do you think Doncic will win the MVP? Let me know in the comments below!
